Mat Rogers is the first to admit that it "has not been a good off-season" for the Sharks, but the club legend has a pretty good idea as to who can turn that around.

Rogers, who played 123 games for Cronulla, joined Triple M's The Rush Hour with MG just hours after news that head coach Shane Flanagan had resigned, effective immediately.

"Adversity can sometimes bring a club together but only if you have a strong leader," Rogers said.

But MG doesn't seem to think it's so cut and dried; the former Penriths star theorised that, should Flanagan appeal his de-registration, the club may be looking for "a one-year quick fix".
