Sydney have placed Gary Rohan and Alex Johnson on their long-term injury list.
Rohan has been battling a number of issues over the pre-season, most recently back soreness, but is expected to be fit by Round 4, according to Sydney football manager Tom Harley.
“As a result of his limited training he will need at least another eight weeks of preparation before he can return to play,” Harley said of Rohan.
“Gary had a similar start to last season and was still able to come in a make a significant impact, so we’re confident he will do the same again this year.”
Meanwhile Johnson, who has not played since the 2012 Grand Final after undergoing five knee reconstructions, could make his long-awaited return in Round 4.
“We’re really pleased with where Alex is at in terms of his rehabilitation, he’s been gradually increasing his training and is in great spirits,” Harley said.
“By placing Alex on the long-term injury list it will enable him to be available for selection from Round 4, and we’re really hopeful of seeing him return to playing this year."
