The rains over the last couple of weeks have provided a little relief for farmers in region but they are needing more to restore their confidence in the sector.
That’s according to the latest Rabobank Rural Confidence Survey which found 50% of farmers believe conditions will worsen in the next 12 months - mainly because of the drought.
Rabobank’s Hamish McAlpin says the Murray dairy region has felt the effects of the drought which could see a sizable drop in milk production.
In the meantime, temperatures in the Mallee region are set to hit the 40's today and tomorrow, officials issuing a Heat Health Warning for the region.
Locals are being urged to stay hydrated, and indoors when possible.
