Record Breaking Year For Give Me 5 for Kids

More Than $2.58 Million Raised in 2017

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) is celebrating a record breaking year for its annual charity drive, Give Me 5 for Kids, having raised $2,581,548 across Australia in 2017 as a result of extensive fundraising efforts across its radio and television Networks.

The amount is more than 15% better than last year's total and is the fourth year in a row the Give Me 5 For Kids campaign has raised over 2.2 million.

More than 95% of this year's donations will go directly to children's wards in regional hospitals to help purchase lifesaving equipment.

SCA's Head of Regional Media and Board Member of Southern Cross Austereo Community Fundraising Ltd, Rick Lenarci said, "I'm extremely proud of the result from not only the hardworking SCA staff that commit their time to making this happen, but also our company partners and the general community in supporting our biggest regional charity drive for sick kids across regional Australia."

Across 37 regional markets, campaigns continued to go above and beyond, with inspirational stories such as Shepparton local Paul Archer and his famous Battery Drive which raised a stunning $100K.

Other highlights include telethons, a sky high crane stunt, concerts such as the inaugural "Rocky Concert" in Rockhampton, on-air auctions, golf days, tin rattles, sponsored sports events, radio marathons, trivia nights, movie nights, raffles, BBQ fundraisers, and countless more events Australia wide.

Give Me 5 for Kids began as a simple coin drive in Gosford in 1994. It is now well-recognised national charity that has raised a staggering $22 million dollars to date.
