Police have spent the night interviewing Shawn Adam Newton following his arrest after 18-days on the run.
Mr Newton fled from police after the body of Scarborough mum Rebecca Gascoigne was found in a car on the Mitchell Freeway on July 15.
Police followed up on a number of unconfirmed sightings during the manhunt, and it was only hours after a fresh appeal for the public's help that a tip-off led them to a Hillarys pub yesterday afternoon.
Mr Newton had allegedly stopped for a drink, wearing a wig and sunglasses, but someone inside recognised him and alerted police.
Officers were quick to respond, swarming the beer garden and arresting him without incident.
One witness remarked that he didn't even get to finish his beer, but added that police did a good job.
Police have thanked the public for their assistance.
