Umpire's Call Sends Basketball Player Reaching For His Gun

Man pulls handgun at Melville Rec Centre

Umpire's Call Sends Basketball Player Reaching For His Gun

We've all had an issue with a decision from the umpire at some stage, but this man went a little too far, after he was irked by the referee at a social basketball game.

The 38 year old allegedly stormed out of the Melville Recreation Centre on Monday night, and grabbed a handgun from his car.

He allegedly hid it under his jumper and headed back, but his friends talked him out of it.

Fremantle police arrested the man after viewing CCTV footage and conducting raids on his home and car.

They have allegedly seized a 9mm handgun.

The Attadale man has been charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear and carry or use unlicensed handgun or prescribed firearm.
