As the year 12 exams get underway this week, authorities are preparing for school leavers to descend on schoolies hotspots around WA.
Police and community groups have today launched the 2017 Leavers strategy, to ensure about 8,000 young people stay safe in places like Rottnest, Busselton and Dunsborough.
Additional police will be sent to Rottnest and the South-West before, during and after the official leavers period to maximise the safety and security of school leavers.
Not-for-profit support group Red Frogs will again be on hand as they have been every year to provide support.
There's also an app for both parents and leavers which features key harm minimisation tips, event details, bus information and a push notification service.
Police Minister Michelle Roberts says officers and volunteers will be working hard to provide a safe and positive environment, but its up to young people to look after themselves and behave appropriately.
“I encourage parents to have a talk with their children and encourage them to stay safe and keep an eye on their friends," Minister Roberts said.
Leavers kick off on Monday, November 20.
