We're getting closer to seeing a Qantas Dreamliner named after this Rottnest Island favourite!
An opera singer, native animals, references to Indigenous culture and some of the country’s best known landmarks are among the Aussie icons suggested to appear on Qantas’ new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said more than 10,000 submissions were sent to the airline and each entry included an average of four different names for a total of more than 40,000 suggestions.
The final 20 are as follows:
Great Ocean Road
Great Southern Land
Great Barrier Reef
As the aircraft will be flying the new direct route between Perth and London, we think one of the planes should be named after something that is uniquely Western Australian, like the Quokka.
You now have the chance to vote for your favourite by visiting www.qantas.com/nameourdreamliners
The winners will be announced next week.
