Mission Australia's Special Gesture For This Year's Christmas Lunch In The Park

First time in history

Mission Australia's Special Gesture For This Year's Christmas Lunch In The Park Mission Australia

For 42 years, Mission Australia has been putting on a Christmas Lunch for those in society that, for whatever reason, are doing it tough in Perth.

For anyone who's ever been to one, it truly is a magical experience and gives those less fortunate the chance to enjoy a decent Christmas meal and share in the festive spirit, the way most of us do every year.

This year, for the first time in its history, Mission Australia have announced an ambassador for its Christmas Lunch In The Park.

Dugarme ‘Dug’ Tassi-e spent a few of his Christmas days at the event, when he was 'sleeping rough'. He has since turned his life around and Mission Australia's Jo Sadler reckons Dug is the perfect ambassador for what Christmas In The Park represents.

"He has faced such adversity to get where he is today. He is a great advocate for people who are homeless, raising awareness of the issue and ensuring that our community understands how they can help to support vulnerable people."

- Jo Sadler

Of course, like many organisations, Mission Australia is calling for donations to support them to put on the event and provide lunch, gifts and Personal Care Packs to the hundreds of people expected to attend this year's lunch in the park. You can head over to their website and click on the donate button, should you feel compelled.
