Lisa Scaffidi has stood down as Perth's lord mayor, pending her appeal against her 18-month disqualification from holding office for repeatedly failing to disclose gifts and travel.

The State Administrative Tribunal in May on Monday found Ms Scaffidi had breached the Local Government Act 45 times by not disclosing accommodation and travel gifts, including a BHP Billiton-funded $US24,000 package to the Beijing Olympics, which was one of five breaches she admitted.

On Thursday in the WA Court of Appeal, it was revealed her disqualification had been stayed but she would temporarily stand down from office.
