A rocky start to the first day of the term, after lead was discovered in non-drinking water samples at five new Perth schools.
Elevated levels of lead were detected in the samples, with testing now underway at a further six schools.
As a precaution, children are being given bottled water, but it's not believed the lead was found in any drinking water systems.
The affected water was found in water from taps in work areas including hose taps and work sinks where water may have stagnated over the school holidays.
Secondary testing showed no elevated lead levels but further testing has been ordered.
The taps will be off limits in the meantime.
The testing is being conducted at the following schools:
Aspiri Primary School
Yanchep Secondary College
Oakwood Primary School
Wellard Primary School
Honeywood Primary School
Rapids Landing Primary School
Aveley North Primary School
Aveley Secondary College
Doubleview Primary School
Southern Grove Primary School
