Anzac Day is arguably our most treasured public holiday of the year. The time we can all take some time to reflect on the huge sacrifice that many Australian and New Zealand men and women made for us in the field of combat.
Of course, the biggest dawn service happens every year at Kings Park, and it’s one that may thousands of West Aussies make the pilgrimage to.
However, there are some fantastic other options if you’re a bit wary of the crowds and/or the distance.
Here are just some of the options on offer.
Our very own Adrian Barich was raving about Rotto’s dawn service on-air, on Saturday during the Dead Set Legends show.
We had a quick look and Rottnest Fast Ferries are doing an Anzac Day special, with the ferry leaving Hillarys at 4.45am to be there in time for the special ANZAC Day service and Gunfire Breakfast.
Sticking with the water theme, from all accounts the City Of Fremantle put on a stirring dawn service on Monument Hill, overlooking the port city and the beautiful Indian ocean.
The WA chapter of the RSL have kindly published a comprehensive list of all the Dawn Services on offer throughout the state
Of course, if you are going to the Dawn Service in Kings Park, many of the surrounding local governments are putting on their own services and gatherings to coincide with the completion of the Dawn Service.
