A quokka selfie posted on social media by tennis ace Roger Federer has been seen by millions of potential visitors around the world.
The smiling Rottnest icon seemed only too happy to oblige when the Hopman Cup winner posed for the photo on December 28.
His subsequent Instagram post has attracted 525,000 likes, 5,000 comments and was shared 2,500 times, reaching 5.3 million people across Facebook and Twitter.
The post became a personal Instagram record for Federer.
Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said its a win for the industry, showcasing our wonderful State to more than half a billion people around the world.
“Judging the reaction to Roger’s quokka selfie, we can expect a lot more visitors to WA and Rottnest in coming months and years, providing a much needed boost to local jobs and our local economy," Mr Papalia said.
