Big Cinema Fest Coming To Our South-West

Love films and a winter getaway?

Big Cinema Fest Coming To Our South-West

The beautiful south west of WA is about to be invaded by Hollywood royalty for the 10 anniversary of the CinefestOZ Film Festival.

It's the 'must do’ for independent Australian filmmakers.

This year, none other than internationally acclaimed and Academy Award nominated writer and director, Scott Hicks, will attend in the role of this year’s Film Prize Jury Chair.

Hicks made the beautiful Shine, the movie about our very own David Helfgott.

He also had a bit to do with some other West Australians done good... the Farriss Brothers in INXS. He directed a whole bunch of videos for INXS including the seminal Don't Change.

Hicks will be joined by actor, playwright and screenwriter Reg Cribb (Last Train to Freo, Bran Nue Dae), leading costume designer Cappi Ireland (Lion), and actor Ewen Leslie (The Railway Man, Kokoda) as his fellow Jury members.

Also attending will be our very own Myles Pollard and indigenous actor Kelton Pell.

And if that's not enough, none other that one of the original Bachelor Boys, Ben Elton.

The festival kicks off on Wednesday August 23 and will be a great environment for filmmakers, talent, industry, community, families and guests to celebrate Australian film in the spectacular location of the South West.

Full program details, tickets and Cinepasses available from CinefestOZ.com, the CinefestOZ iPhone app and local Visitor Centres.
