Another Shark Incident In Gracetown

A surfer's close call

Another Shark Incident In Gracetown

There's a shark warning in place for beaches in Gracetown after a surfer was bumped by a 3.5 metre shark.

The surfer was swiped by the shark's tail near South Point around 5:30pm yesterday, but thankfully, wasn't hurt.

Just last week, two surfers were bitten by sharks in separate attacks in the Gracetown area.

Both had to be treated in hospital for leg injuries.

The shark activity in the area eventually led to the cancellation of the Margaret River Pro surfing event nearby.

Fisheries officers are monitoring the area, while the Surf Lifesaving WA helicopter is undertaking aerial sweeps of the beaches there for the rest of the school holidays.

Keep informed of the latest detection and sighting information by checking the Shark Activity Map on the SharkSmart website or the Surf Life Saving WA Twitter.
