Up To One Million European Cars Expected To Be Recalled Due To Dangerous Airbags

ACCC recommends recall.

Up To One Million European Cars Expected To Be Recalled Due To Dangerous Airbags

Up to a million cars are expected to be added to a recall of three million Australian vehicles, following suggestions from the ACCC.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has made a formal recommendation to the Federal Government to issue a compulsory recall for vehicles with Takara airbags installed.

Between 800,000 and one million cars are expected to be effected by the recall – which includes brands like Audi and Volkswagen as well as certain European sourced models from Ford and Holden.

There have been reports of the airbags rupturing when deployed in a crash, it’s estimate this has lead to up to 23 deaths overseas and hundreds of injuries.
