Gonna need a bigger freezer

Water temperatures off the coast of one American region have dropped so drastically that frozen sharks keep washing ashore, according to one conservation group.

Atlantic White Shark Conservancy posted a photo of a dead thresher shark to their Facebook page this week, one of four they have removed from beaches in Cape Cod, New England in the last few days.

"A male at around 14ft in length, this shark was too frozen to attempt a necropsy," they said. "We hauled the shark off the beach and it is currently thawing... to be dissected later.

"A true sharkcicle!"

It's believed that all of the fish succumbed to cold shock as surface temperatures at Cape Cod Bay dropped to just 5 degrees C.

"They are a common species here but offshore," Atlantic White Shark Conservancy shared on Facebook. "These sharks were most likely moving south with the warmer water and got caught in the hook of Cape Cod."
