Imagine getting home from a long day at work to see your house in pieces, completely demolished. This happened to old mate Steve Ballas in Bankstown.
Demolition workers were told to demolish 200 Marion Street – so they arrived at the 3-bedroom home and did just that.
However, the house has the wrong numbers on the letterbox and was in fact 198 Marion Street.
Steve told A Current Affair, “it was all done without my approval.”
Luckily there was no one currently living in the home – Steve had put the house up for rent.
The real number 200 next door had the wrong numbers on the letterbox as well, (202) causing major confusion.
The City of Canterbury-Bankstown confirmed Steve’s notices had the correct number 198 on them, and the house was in the correct place – between number 200 and 196.
Police are not investigating the incident.
