Stingy Landlord Installs Coin-Operated Dunny In Rental Flat

A Melbourne landlord has installed a coin-operated toilet that forces tenants to pay a dollar per flush.

A redditor in the northern suburb of Thornbury posted about the toilet, asking if it was legal for the landlord to install the contraption.

The landlord told the tenant that the system is part of a government-driven incentive to save water.

The tenant was confused that the landlord was the one collecting the takings, however, and took to Reddit to find out the legality of the system.

One of the tenant's main complaints was how awkward it makes entertaining.

"The worst thing is not having any dollar coins on hand," they said.

"Especially when I have guests over. It's really embarrassing and gross for them."

The post was initially removed because moderators deemed it a hoax, but was reinstated when the tenant provided a photo.

The overwhelming response from other redditors was that the tenant should look at their legal options.
