The man who violently kidnapped two backpackers at Salt Creek in February last year has been jailed for 22 years and 4 months today.
Roman Heinze was sentenced for the attacks on a remote beach in the Coorong - along an indecent assault on another backpacker in Adelaide in 2014.
The 61 year old will have to serve at least 17 years before he's eligible for release on parole.
Justice Trish Kelly told the court Heinze is "morose, forlon, pathetic and utterly depraved."
Justice Kelly also said he was wasn't a human being but a "primitive man."
The 61 year old was found guilty of six charges including indecent assault, aggravated kidnapping and endangering life.
None of his backpacker victims were in court for the sentencing.
