Legendary rock and roll musician Chuck Berry has died, aged 90, according to reports.
Police said they responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road in St Charles County, Missouri.
They discovered a man who was unresponsive, and despite immediately administering lifesaving techniques, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
The man was later identified as Berry.
"The St Charles County Police Department sadly confirms the death of Charles Edward Anderson Berry Sr, better known as legendary musician Chuck Berry," police said in a statement.
"The family requests privacy during this time of bereavement."
Berry announced last October, on his 90th birthday, that he was set to release a new album.
Berry was one of the pioneers of rock and roll, releasing such hits as Johnny B. Goode, Maybellene and Rock and Roll Music.
