Detectives investigating the shooting death of a man during a police confrontation  in Sydney CBD last week are seeking to identify further witnesses.

Police were called to Eddy Avenue, Haymarket, just before 6.45pm last Wednesday following reports of an armed robbery at a business near the entrance to Central Railway Station.

Officers arrived soon after, where a 30-year-old man was shot and later died at the scene.

A critical incident team from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad is investigating all circumstances surrounding the incident.

As part of their on-going investigation, detectives are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant information, and who have not yet spoken to police to make contact as soon as possible.

In addition, they are urging anyone who may have filmed the incident to provide a copy of the video to investigators.

The investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or provide their contact details to their local police to have a member of the critical incident team to make contact.

Videos and photos can be uploaded onto the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
