New Poll Reveals 33% of Triple M Listeners Believe Abolishing The 457 Visa Is Positive For Australia

43% Think Abolishing 457 Visa Is Stunt

New Poll Reveals 33% of Triple M Listeners Believe Abolishing The 457 Visa Is Positive For Australia

A new survey of Triple M listeners has revealed that 32% believe the government's much publicised decision to abolish the 457 visa is a positive thing for Australia.

49% of respondents went on to say they think it will result in more jobs for Australians.

The poll, conducted last week of Triple M Club members, revealed general support for the move, with a 17% difference between those who said it will be positive for the country and the 15% who said it would have a negative effect.

A further 20% thought the change will have no effect on the country at all. The remaining respondents either weren't sure of its effect or wouldn't comment.

In contrast to the almost half who said there would be more jobs for Australians, 23% believe abolishing the 457 visa will lead to a skills shortage and 17% said they are expecting fewer people to want to come to the country.

35% said they saw the move as a sign that the Australian government were finally listening to the people.

Although 43% see it as nothing more than a political stunt to save Malcolm Turnbull and his team.

The poll results came from 687 Triple M listeners aged over 18.
