Dreamworld's oldest tiger, Sita, has died after suffering kidney failure.

The theme park posted on Facebook on Wednesday morning to announce the 18-year-old tiger has been put down on medical advice, after she stopped being able to eat.

Sita was one of four cubs born on Tiger Island back in the 90s that were dubbed the "Awesome Pawsome". There's only one of that group left, Rama, also 18-years-old.

"Sita has been a longtime favourite with our staff and visitors to the park, and our team here are understandably saddened by the news," the park said in a statement.

"Sita led a long and happy life at Dreamworld. While tigers in the wild live for between 10 and 12 years, Sita lived to the grand old age of 18."

"Sita has been a phenomenal ambassador for the plight of the endangered wild tiger. While Sita’s passing is deeply saddening, the Dreamworld team will continue to shine the spotlight on the perilous plight of the wild tiger."
