Another bad report card for Aussie school students... figures showing they're behind in maths, science and reading.
The OECD's latest study revealed Australia's 15 year olds are sliding backwards compared with their international peers.
Our students are more than a year and a half behind the students of top-performing countries like Singapore in science; a year behind in reading; and lagging by more than 2 years in maths.
Australia's results remain just above the OECD average overall. We placed 14th in science, 16th in reading and 25th in maths, of 72 participating countries and economies.
Countries like Slovenia, New Zealand, and Vietnam came in ahead of Australia.
