Anti-Terror Bollards For Grand Final

Anti-Terror Bollards For Grand Final (AFL/ABC)

Anti-terror bollards will line the AFL grand final parade route and other thoroughfares leading to the MCG as Victorian police ramp up security for footy's biggest event.

The temporary bollards will be positioned along streets on Friday to separate revellers from vehicles, with a police counter-terrorism expert assisting with preparations, the Herald Sun reports.

It's understood Victoria Police will make an announcement on the security measures on Thursday.

Thousands of officers will also be deployed during celebrations to keep fans safe but authorities are re-assuring the public there is no increased terrorism threat.

"There is absolutely no advice or evidence to suggest there is any terrorism risk for this grand final," Police Minister Lisa Neville told reporters on Wednesday.
