The lawyer for a Gold Coast man shot dead by police during an alleged break-in claims he was trying to turn his life around.
According to News Corp, Liam Scorsese's lawyer claimed he had started taking a new education course and was working with his father after being released from prison last year.
That was until the 31-year-old was fatally shot by officers in Brisbane on Sunday, after they were called to the scene of an attempted break-and-enter.
Acting Chief Superintendent Mick Niland claimed two junior cops fired a taser at Mr Scorsese when he allegedly advanced on them with a knife, which failed to stop him, before discharging a weapon.
"Police were in fear of their lives at the time," said Niland.
"The male person has threatened police, and the matter remains under investigation by ethical standards command."
