While we are all being urged to stay cool during the heat and heed fire warnings we now have a new warning looming over us – and it’s one that freaks most of us out – SNAKES.
As Queensland swelters in the current heat conditions, we are being encouraged to stay well away from slithering reptiles and to be aware of their increased appearance.
While more than 100 people across the state have been treated for heat-related illness since the temperatures began to soar on November 22 there have also been reports of snake bites thanks to the heat and fires.
There are other issues along with heat which can impact on people's health and one of those is snakes, with reports of increased presentations of people with a snake bite.
We are also all being urged not to touch bats with incidents of bats falling out of trees due to the heat.
