With 111 years of dominance on his side, you can forgive the punter who put NZ$100, 000 on the All Blacks to beat Ireland for thinking this would be an easy win.

Ireland first met the NZ side in 1905, and it took over 29 attempts to get it right, but a 40 - 29 win in Chicago seems like a pretty comprehensive victory.

Especially given the All Blacks were on an 18-wins-deep streak - a world record for a tier one side.

This tops off a year of underdog victories.

  • Leicester: 132 years
  • Ireland: 111 years
  • Cubs: 108 years
  • Bulldogs: 68 years
  • Sharks: 50 years
  • Cavs: 46 years
  • Portugal: 33 years
