Nick Kyrgios Wins The Japan Open
Third title in 2016 for Kyrgios
Nick Kyrgios has won the Japan Open, defeating Belgian David Goffin in the final at Tokyo 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Kyrgios was seeded sixth coming into the tournament, and knocked off second seed Gael Monfils on his way to the final.
That game included this remarkable rally that Kyrgios won in the second set — he even managed a tweener return at one point:
Kyrgios sent down 23 aces to Goffin's nine during the match and hit 40 winners.
The victory was the 21-year-old’s third ATP title of the year, after winning the Open 13 at Marseille in February and the Atlanta Open in August.
The win puts Kyrgios at a career high of 14th in the world rankings.
