Australia Faces Mammoth Run Chase At The WACA

Huge chase ahead

Australia are staring down the barrel of defeat shortly after lunch on day four of the first Test at the WACA.

The Aussies will need to chase 539 after South Africa declared on 8/540 just after lunch.

South Africa tormented the Australian attack, with Dean Elgar (127) and JP Duminy (141) cracking tons, while Quentin de Kock (64) and Vernon Philander (73) contributed late 50s.

Debutant Keshav Maharaj even got in on the act, smashing Nathan Lyon around to make a sprightly 41* off 34.

Australia has to either make the runs or bat out 155 overs over the next two days.
