Geelong coach Chris Scott wasn't giving a whole lot away at his press conference this morning as he was pressed about some upcoming selection decisions.

When asked if veteran midfielder Jimmy Bartel would be a certain starter, Scott said "the guys that played in our last game are all in the box seat to play this week."

There has been conjecture over the Brownlow medallist's spot in the side, especially given 2016 is expected to be his final season.

Harry Taylor also addressed the omission rumours early in the week, insisting Bartel was a vital player in a big final.

"He's a very, very handy player to have in the big games," Taylor said on Monday.

"He brings a lot of experience to our footy club on the training track and in games as well.

"His record in finals is very, very good.

"What you do is walk taller around guys who just do their job and Jimmy is one of those guys who does his job every week."

Defender Lachie Henderson is considered a certain starter this Friday night meaning one of Geelong's healthy 22 will need to make way.

Scott also confirmed the fitness of Stephen Motlop as being "fine".
