Carlton To Target “At Least One” Marquee Player Next Year
Top end talent targeted
Carlton have set their sights on marquee talent at the end of next season, with the club set to target at least one and possibly two big name players.
The Blues will have spent two years developing their youth talent under Brendon Bolton by then and will be out to attract some top line talent to the club to go to the next level.
“On the back of a couple of seasons selecting youth, developing youth as quickly as we can and playing it, at the end of ‘17 we will be looking really strongly then at being able to supplement our list with a marquee player or two,” Carlton CEO Steven Trigg told Macquarie Media.
The end of 2017 promises a bumper crop of free agents, with Richmond star Dustin Martin, Brisbane skipper Tom Rockliff and Freo Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe all eligible.
