Andrew McGrath joined Triple M's Dead Set Legends just hours after being drafted with the number one pick.
Essendon's latest recruit becomes the club's first ever number one draft pick, and he told Fev and Howie the realisation hasn't really hit him just yet.
"It's an exciting time, it hasn't really sunk it yet," he said.
McGrath told the boys he had no idea he would be selected at number one, and neither did anyone else.
"We had no idea," he said.
"(Essendon recruiting manager Adrian) Dodoro sent us a message - me, Hugh (McCluggage) and Will (Setterfield) - about two hours out saying that out of respect for the game and to keep the pick more true, we're not going to let you know. That made us all a bit more nervous.
"It was a massive relief and I couldn't believe it when my name was read out."
He's got a pretty cool story behind him.
"My whole family's Canadian," he said, making him the first number one pick born outside Australia.
"We moved to Australia when I was five, through dad's work. Originally we were meant to stay for three years, but that blew out to 13 and counting now.
"I'm not really sure (whether it's made headlines in Toronto), to be honest. My dad would be a better person to ask, but I think it might have."
And what position will he play?
"I see myself as a midfielder in the long term, but I can play half back as well," he said.
"An attacking rebounder off half back and then a hard, inside and running outside midfielder."
