Emma Quayle, Brendan Fevola and Mark Howard have described their hilarious reaction to Hawthorn picking up Mitchell Lewis in the draft.

The Hawks drafted Lewis - the namesake of club legends Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis, who they traded away - with pick 76, a moment you couldn't script.

"I nearly fell off my chair!" Howie laughed.

"(First) when I was watching Sam Mitchell in a West Coast jumper, which was stunning to see, and then the Hawks, who had pick number 752 - bugger me, they've picked the bloke called Mitchell Lewis!"

Quayle said

"How good was that! How good was that," Quayle said.

"I think the whole room started laughing when that's classic, isn't it?"

Fev said the laughter wasn't exclusive to the room.

"The whole of Australia laughed!" he said.

Quayle gave more insight on Lewis as a player.

"I haven't seen much of him, but he's a little bit of a different player to both Mitchell and Lewis," she said.

Lewis, according to Hawthorn's website, is a key forward who can pinch hit in the ruck.

He kicked 13 goals in 10 games for the Calder Cannons in 2016, including one monstrous game against Gippsland Power, where he racked up 34 disposals, 12 hit outs and four goals.
