This Dennis Cometti Tribute Will Give You Goosebumps

Centimetre perfect!

Saturday’s Grand Final between the Western Bulldogs and Sydney marked the closure of Triple M's own Dennis Cometti, ending a glittering broadcast career in both radio and TV of over 40 years.

In that time, several of Cometti’s calls and catchphrases have become iconic and he has become one of the most loved commentators of his era.

To mark the occasion, Channel 7 put together this brilliant tribute featuring — and narrated by — several athletes who were subject to some of Cometti’s more famous calls.

From his iconic call of Kieren Perkin’s 1996 1500m gold at Atlanta — “this is rare gold, the best kind of gold!” — to the goal in the 2007 preliminary final against Collingwood that showed Gary Ablett Jr would be a champion on the same level of his dad — “cometh the moment, cometh the man! The son of the man!” — it’s all here, and it’s all, well, rare gold.

Thanks Dennis. It’s been centimetre perfect.
