Sydney have confirmed that youngster Xavier Richards has requested to be traded to another club.
Richards struggled for opportunities in his first three years with the Swans, managing only two games.
But he established himself as a key part of the side in the back half of 2016, playing 10 games including all four finals.
Swans football manager Tom Harley says the club will continue to work with Richards’ manager.
“We’ve been in discussions with Xavier’s management through the back end of the year and to this point we haven’t been able to come to terms,” Harley said.
“We will work with Xavier and his management to find a mutually beneficial outcome.”
Richards is the brother of Sydney premiership defender Ted Richards who has announced his retirement.
Richards was originally a 2013 rookie draft selection.
