Brent Harvey's Emotional Message To North Melbourne Members
"A lot of people have thought I'm angry"
Brent Harvey officially announced his retirement at North Melbourne's best and fairest last night.
The North Melbourne legend's 432-game career was drawn to a close, and he was filled with emotion.
He delivered one final message to North Melbourne members, urging them to commit to the club despite the saga surrounding his future.
"A lot of people have thought I'm angry with the club, but I assure you that's not the case," he said.
"To the members who've said they won't re-sign, let's take a deep breath and remember the Shinboner spirit.
"Our club needs your support more than ever, and let's stick together and enjoy a huge 2017."
He then officially announced his decision to retire.
"I'd like to tell everyone in this room tonight that my decision not to pull on another team's jumper is the reason why I'd like to announce my retirement from AFL football," he said to a momentous applause.
"It's been an amazing journey and I'm extremely privileged to have played one game for the North Melbourne Football Club, let alone play here for 21 years."
