The End For INXS? Post by: Dan The Internut 21 May, 2010 - 8:48 AM

There's been a lot of talk going around with the INXS Greatest Hits album going to No. 1, but what's happening with their next album?

INXS drummer and producer Jon Farriss has revealed that their next release will be a covers album of their own songs - a re-recorded mix of hits and album tracks using different singers for each song - and it will be out this year.

Hear the interview:

"We've re-invented these songs. Some have been done by an orchestra, some [are] stripped down and some tracks may take you [a while] to recognise what it is."

"The whole influence of being involved with international singers helped bring new life to the songs."

And who are these international singers filling the role of Michael Hutchence? This time Jon kept his big mouth shut. "I'm to blame with the rumours. Rob Thomas and Ben Harper have been pushed around, and there are a lot of Australian artists.

"The formats are changing on a daily basis and it would be unfair to send another rumour in the wrong direction."

He said the album will hopefully be out in August.

News of INXS's covers album sounds like a cool idea, but does it actually spell the end of the band?

Does an INXS covers album spell the end for INXS?
