Just You Wait... Post by: Lisa Fernandez 16 June, 2009 - 4:42 PM
Don't know if you heard, but one little comment about being tired on the weekend led to a barrage of "just you wait until you have kids"... if you didn't hear it, here it is.Like I don't know what being tired is like? Has anyone heard of breakfast radio? :)
Couchies, help me out... when my baby's born, will sleep as I know it really be a thing of the past?

Sleep will be a thing of the past depending on your bub, my daughter is 3 on Monday 22/06 and she still wakes numerous times a night and has only ever slept through the night twice in three years, yet i have friends with liitle bubs who sleep right through. In all honesty though I do belive your body adjusts to th elack of sleep.

I was a lucking mum whose little angel slept from 10pm-3am & 3.15-7.00am up until she was 6 weeks old and then she started sleeping straight through. Now she is nearing two and is down from 7.30pm until 7am - unless she is unwell of course. :)

Sleep? What's that?
You will be surprised at how well you can manage on very little sleep. My 2.5 year old still doesn't sleep through and her 1 year old brother wakes up to 5 times a night. You get used to not having sleep and you relish the sleep you do get. As they say sleep when your baby sleeps (easier said than done).
You might also find that you don't sleep much in your last trimester. I think it's your bodies way of preparing you for what lies ahead.

My son had colic and reflux for the first 7 months, I forgot what sleep was!! But do yourself a favor - when the bub sleeps you sleep - don't worry about housework!!!

Neither of my kids slept throught the night until they were four!! You feel like a zombie all the time and this crap about getting used to it I DON'T THINK SO! you just learn to cope. I went six years without a full nights sleep and i did survive and so did the kids. It's amazing what you do when you have to.

Lis, whether you sleep well or not at night time depends on the nature of your baby, and the routine you make for her/him...the first few weeks might be a bit confusing and you may not sleep well but after that it will get easier...either you get used to sleepless nights or the baby learns to have a routine..all I can say is the moment you get a chance have a nap...instead of doing anything else ...especially the first few months...the housework doesn't grow legs and run away, it will get done eventually...:)
