Essendon footy club has named it's new senior coach as James Hird.
Kevin Sheedy has come out and said on radio that Essendon's former infield leader would demand the highest standards. Meanwhile, Eddie McGuire said it was fantastic to have someone of Hird's credentials involved in football.
"You don't want to lose the good people and he is an absolute cracker."
"Now they've got their favourite son back. David Evans is their president, he is a gun. Now they can really start rebuilding the football club down there. It might take a couple of years but hey it does for everybody."
The question remains, who will be made assistant coach?
