Dragons Destroy Drought Post by: Dan The Internut 3 October, 2010 - 8:50 PM

St George Illawarra Dragons comfortably beat the Sydney Roosters 32-8 to take out the 2010 Grand Final.
The win erased painful memories of last year's 'choker' tag and gave Wayne Bennett his seventh Premiership title. Bennett, 60, is now arguably the game's most successful coach in NRL history.
However, the game was overshadowed by some controversial referring decisions, a plague that has blighted this season.
In the 7th minute of the game, touch judge Jeff Younis missed Brett Morris of the Dragons putting not one foot but both feet into touch in a sweep down the left side. The passage of play lead to the Dragons' and Mark Gasnier's first try of the night.
In the 17th minute it appeared Jamie Soward had saved the day dislodging the ball from the arms of Rooster's Joseph Leilua as he crossed the line. Video referee Bill Harrigan deemed play-on as Braith Anasta put his hand on the rolling ball for their first try.
To many it seemed the choker tag would stick but for Bennett's half-time talk, the Dragons carried out a second half points blitz.
Running in four tries to none in the second half, the Dragons choked the chooks and ended the Rooster's fairytale comeback dreams.
As Rabs pointed out on Channel 9, no team has put any points on the board in the second half against the Dragons.
Did the Dragons deserve to win?
