There’s A Major Problem With Australia’s New $5 Note

Australia just got a fancy new $5 note, but there’s a major design issue creating problems across the country.

The transparent anti-counterfeiting strip is causing the note to be rejected by automated shop readers and vending machines when customers attempt to pay. 

Several Aussie stores with self-service check-outs and vending machines are recalibrating their machines. 

“This clearly seems to be a failure of planning and there is no reason why they shouldn’t be accepting the new $5 note,” Erin Turner from Choice said.

“They need to get their act together and fix it as quickly as possible.”
