Your Say On Your City

What Would You Do With Subi Oval? Post by: Mix 94.5 9 December, 2009 - 3:23 PM

In light of the recent Australian World Cup soccer bid, shortcomings in the availability of a suitable sports stadium here in Perth has come to the fore.

Debate is again raging about what Perth needs to do. Should we build a new stadium, or re-develop Subiaco to accomodate more people and better facilities?

Have your say on the state of play here in WA. What should we do?

Mr Barnett!!!!!!!! get your head out of your #%@& & get WA in line with all the other state, subiaco is a white elephant & terribly out of date & is a sub standard facility, do you want us to be the laughing stock of the country for ever, Melbourne are building a new soccer/rugby state of the art staduim for the Storm & Victory & they only took a few months to decide to do it & start building it, here we are 3 years later!!!! still with nothing & now we are going re-develop subiaco again!!!!!! geez how long will the upgrade be any good before we have to do it again??? BUILD A NEW STADIUM & as the saying goes, IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME!!!!! we miss out on everyhting here because you lot cant make decision that will betetr the state. You have lost my vote at the next election

Don't waste another cent on Subiaco it's only used for bogan ball, get real and build a proper football stadium that caters for the true football codes!

Football is all about tradition ,and Subiaco Oval has been around for a long time and so i think needs to remain.Aussie rules is our national game and should remain at the forefront when deciding what to do.
(learn some passion for your National Game Sandgropers-its something you could learn from Melbourne people(I am a sandgroper.)Agreed ,the stand at Subi is antiquated ,so rebuild it there , you have the space to do it , the infrastructure the (transport, shopping,Restaurants ,accommodation and its central) and Subi is a nice place )why would you go build some thing in *****ville.

Sink the railway line from Subi to the city, use the space to create an entertainment hub/pedestrian link to the city and the Perth arena, with mini parks, cafes, cycle paths.
Rebuild Subi on the same site or slightly East into Mueller Park. Think big, think of Parisian tree lined boulevards, Barcelona's Las Rambles. Allow the oval precinct to become an entertainment area even when there isn't any sport being played.
The infrastructures already there just make better use of it.

The latest episode in Barnett's vision to make Perth an even more boring, reclusive city (eg scaled down/delayed waterfront), tho i must give him quedos on trading hours. Even a person with half his intelligence would follow the advice of a group dedicated to the topic headed by Langoulant. How long b4 a rebuilt subi is too small/out of date? I still vividly remember the last round of refurbishments there.

I am a born and bred West Aussie and am ashamed to admit it at times. We need a new Aussie Rules stadium to stay in touch with the requirements of the future of the game, not a renovation. Sadly it won't happen...we can't attract decent competition for Coles and Woolies because of our retarded trading hours, and we're 3 hours behind the east because someone decided to have a vote and let retirees and dole bludgers have a say.........time is so relevant to that lot. But I digress, Subiaco is a dinosaur and needs to go. I am just happy I am a Collingwood member and can afford to fly to Melbourne occassionally to watch games..........easier than getting parking near Subiaco.

Why oh why do we have to use a Aussie Rules stadium for Football games, I am a big support of the world game, but I will not go to watch it on an oval, give us a purpose built stadium for Rugby and Football one where we can get a view of all the pitch not just half of it.
