  • Upstart Theatre Company says

    Heres a chance to see one of Shakespeares greatest works for nothing all in the picturesque setting of Ellenbrooks Woodlake Amphitheatre.

    Upstart Theatre Company is staging a free outdoor version of The Tempest, directed by Michael Lamont, through a collaboration with Ellenbrook Arts, LWP Property Group, the City of Swan and Australian Business Arts Foundation.

    The Tempest is a story about magic and monsters, revenge and redemption, young love and old rivalries.

    It follows the exiled duke, Prospero, who spends years plotting his revenge against people who usurped him and abandoned him and his daughter on an enchanted island.

    When a massive storm, summoned up by magical powers, leaves Prospero's enemies shipwrecked on the island, the old duke sets about righting the wrongs done to him.

    The Tempest plays at 7pm, November 26, 27, December 3, 4, 10 and 11 with 5.30pm matinees on November 28 and December 5. Admission is free.

    Woodlake Amphitheatre is on the corner of Highpoint and Woodlake Boulevards, Ellenbrook.

    Bring the family along for a night of Carols accompanied by intermediate and senior concert bands and choir on Sunday 5th December in school courtyard. Event time 6.00 - 8.15pm. Plenty of festive cheer and food,drinks, sausage sizzle provided. Gold coin donation requested on entry. All proceeds go towards school's music tour to Singapore in July 2011.     A gentle comedy comes to Melville Theatre this December, looking at what can happen when an unexpected family reunion takes place.

    Written by WA playwright Alice Dale and directed by Stuart Riches, The Wee Small Hours focuses on the complications that unfold when two sisters re-unite in Perth.

    A sister arrives from Glasgow and a variety of romances, affairs and regret-filled pasts come to light.

    The Wee Small Hours plays at 8pm, December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 with a 2pm matinee on December 5.
