Your Say On Your City
Earth Hour Post by: Mix 94.5 23 March, 2009 - 10:38 AM
For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote.Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming.
WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.
VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.
Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.

Turn off your lights, and head outside to check out the sky! Reduced light pollution means more stars will be visible, showing city dwellers what the night sky should look like.

EARTH HOUR IS A MUST.I turn lights and power consuming appliances off all the time when I aren't using them.Fossil fuels are A LIMITED SUPPLY and are fast drying up.Whatever you do,it consumes these fuels in one way or another.Coming from the country, the view of any night sky is an awesome thing. It doesn't matter if you only have one light to turn off,it all helps.Having worked in the Power Generation & Mining Industries, people would be astounded at the amount of diesel, coal & or gas that these places consume.I for one will have my lights and any unwanted appliances turned off.If everyone joins in it will be a big plus, not only for the EARTH but also in the long run your hip pocket. If you can,do it tonight and every time possible, you will be amazed at the amount of money you save as well. VOTE 1 : EARTH

We went to the Perth Observatory, I don't know if Earth Hour made a difference to the night sky up there but you are certainly able to see so many more stars that can be seen in the city. As was pointed out while we were there, we don't have anywhere else to go so we should be taking much better care what we have.

It's interesting that so much is made of turning the lights off for one hour and this will "save the Planet". When you think about we do it every day while we have daylight saving.
