The second week in the Dordogne and we have moved house. Not far, but this one nestles in a forested valley near the village of Meyrals and has been advertised as a "mini chateau".

It was a day journey from the Pyrenees to the Dordogne. Well, we took a day as we explored every small road en route and stopped for an idyllic lunch at a fully preserved medieval village.

Leaving Barcelona in our gorgeous new Peugot was difficult. Actually it took an hour and a half, so describing it as difficult may be an understatement, not something I normally indulge in.

Many times on this trip I am reminded of a saying of my husband's when he wants us (me) to hurry up: "As the shepherd said to the sheepdog:'let's get the flock outta here.' " Like a sheepdog, I am always nipping at their heels, as I try to get the boys out of the apartment on our days of sightseeing.
