DEBT OF HONOUR

This unique exhibition salutes the bravery and contribution of Australia’s first guerrilla commandos and their life-long endeavour to repay a ‘debt of honour’ to the people of Timor-Leste. It unveils the extraordinary contributions of 270 young men of the 2/2nd Australian Independent Company, the Sparrow Force who took on the Japanese forces – 10,000 men – and made life long friends with the East Timorese who risked their lives to support the Australians.

GALLIPOLI REMEMBERED AT WANNEROO

Sidney Nolan was one of Australia’s most controversial, complex and prolific artists. In 1978 he presented 252 Gallipoli paintings and drawings to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The paintings were gifted in memory of his brother who died in tragic circumstances just before the end of the Second World War, and the many Aussies who had died in the war. Have a look at a fine selection of these renowned artworks.
