It just dawned on us and we thought we should remind you... this weekend is the last long weekend of the year.
THAT'S A WHOLE THREE MONTHS.
Technically, it's actually not the last public holiday. But the next one to come is Christmas, and pretty much everyone takes holidays around that time, so it sort of doesn't count.
Sadly, the weather for this weekend is looking slightly average. So, here's 5 things you can do this weekend to make use of the last long weekend.
1. Go to the show
The IGA Perth Royal Show is back, and if you're looking for a place to tire the kiddies out toot-sweet, well, you can't do much better than the show. All that walking, all that eating, all that sampling, all in the one place.
2. Get into the footy
All weekend... if you love your footy and can get over the fact that both WA teams are done for this year, then you can settle in on the couch and watch two crackerjack AFL games this weekend. Friday night sees a massive clash between Geelong and Sydney, then on Saturday, it's GWS taking on the Bulldogs.
But, it gets better. Sunday arvo, Subiaco take on Peel Thunder in the WAFL Grand Final. You can choose to go and sample the GF atmosphere, or watch it at home on 7.
3. WA Beer and Beef Festival 2016 at Elizabeth Quay
75 different brews from 20 local, interstate and overseas breweries up for tasting. Yes, we're up for that.
And the best thing, it's the long weekend. You can sleep off any 'after-effects'.
4. Go for a Sunday trip
An hour out of Perth, in any direction, is full of possibilities. North, you're in Lancelin / Ledge Point territory... South, you're in Mandurah... East, you're in York or Northam.
So many options!
5. SLEEP IN
The absolute must. If you can, that is.
All those days recently when you've woken on a Monday and just wished you could sleep in... well, YOU CAN*
*If you take kids and/or pets out of the equation ;)
Whatever you do, have fun and stay safe this long weekend.
