It's official. The U2360 tour is the highest grossing tour of all time.

U2 officially broke the record over the weekend with their show at the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. At this stage the tour has earned more than $US558 million dollars. And Billboard has estimated by the tour's end they will have grossed more than $US700 million.

U2 launched their massive world tour in 2009 in Spain with the Irish lads billing it as the biggest rock show ever.

The U2360 tour, with its massive 164 foot giant "claw" that Bono referred to as the "space ship" and its awesome sound and lighting, redefined the stadium concert experience.

The Rolling Stones previously held the record with their 2005-07 Bigger Bang tour. Of course, the Stones will get their chance to win back the honour with their rumoured world tour to kick off next year.
